Fun fact about Supertramp: After the departure of guitarist Richard Palmer in 1971, 93 different guitarists auditioned to fill the vacant position (which eventually went to Roger Hodgson who already played bass in the band). The anecdote shows the zeal of the English group. In 1979 Supertramp's persistence was also paid in hard cash. The album Breakfast In America sold twenty million copies. The
… ten-month tour that followed the album also took the group to Paris. The group sold out the Pavillon de Paris (capacity: 8,000) on four consecutive evenings. The concert on this DVD was the third of the four shows. Supertramp was one of the few groups to link the thorough musicality of prog rock with hit-friendly pop songs. The decoration of the stage and the band members is remarkably sober, only saxophonist John Helliwell looks like a Christmas ball. Doesn't matter, because the music does its job. The French public knows, judging by the loud applause, that they rightly value this. (PdK)more
