No band managed to convert its struggles into success like the British / American Fleetwood Mac. That of course started in the late 1960s with the drama-wrapped departure of band leader . Then there was the millionseller (1976) which, as widely reported, mainly dealt with the mutual relationship problems of the band members. Tango In The Night, released in 1987, was the most successful album after
… Rumors. It was made by a band that had actually already split up. Singer was now a frequent visitor to the Betty Ford Clinic, but the rest of the band was, as singer / guitarist Lindsay Buckingham once summed it up: 'Leading their lives in a way that they would not be too proud of today'. Buckingham was the driving force behind what was initially supposed to be a solo album of his. The big hit Big Love is his hand, but singer / keyboardist is not with her Little Lies. There are many strong songs on the last album on which the super line-up is complete. In particular due to the use of the Fairlight computer (the first studio device that made sampling possible), the production looks a bit dated. Nevertheless, Tango In The Night is a top record in Fleetwood Mac's oeuvre. (MR)more
