Robben Ford has the blues in his veins and can undeniably make his guitar howl loudly, as can be heard on many of his records. At Bringing It Back Home, the Californian guitar virtuoso opts for a distinctly different sound. He returns to the type of music he made in the beginning of his career. The ten songs have been carefully constructed and subtlety seems to be the code word. That makes Bringing
… It Back Home a warm, sometimes almost brooding blues record. What is striking is the fantastic chemistry with his backing band, especially the interaction with organist can be called sublime on the instrumental On That Morning. Furthermore, besides the funky opener Everything I Do Gonna Be Funky, there is also the contemporary version of 's Most Likely You Go Your Way And I'll Go Mine on. Ford saved the best for last, however, with the sultry blues track Fool's Paradise. (BvdV)more
