At the time of her debut album All I Have (2002) Amerie was still an unobtrusive and somewhat well-behaved R&B singer of which there are so many, with her second CD Touch she is hard to ignore. Not only because of her new sexy image, but especially because of the great first single 1 Thing that preceded the release of Touch. The track produced by Rich Harrison was hard to resist with a very
… catchy oh-oh-oh-oh chorus and a strong drum sample. And there are more such good songs on Touch. Mainly from Rich Harrison, who also fully produced All I Have but only broke through with hit singles for Beyoncé (Crazy In Love) and Jennifer Lopez (Get Right), but also from Lil Jon, who beeps his favorite synthesizer in the title track. And then Amerie turns out to have co-written the majority of the tracks and to be able to sing for sure. It makes her, for a change, an R&B singer who is not only fun to watch, but also to listen to.
