With the single Goodies, r & b singer Ciara had a big hit to her name out of nowhere. Probably the combination of gasping vocals, production of Lil 'Jon and not to mention the video clip in which Ciara showed scantily clad sexy dance steps was enough to make American audiences rush to the CD store in the summer of 2004. Ciara had been trying to break through as a singer for a long time, including
… in a girl group, but it wasn't until she met producer Jazze Pha that things started to take off. He signed Ciara to his label Sho'Nuff and also produced most of her debut album Goodies, which sold more than 500,000 copies in the United States. Despite the cooperation of R. Kelly, Missy Elliot and Ludacris, Goodies has to rely on the single of the same name. After about five songs, the album threatens to collapse rapidly and when the first ballads come along, it turns out that Ciara tries to look a lot like Aaliyah, but cannot match her anywhere, let alone replace her.
