Il Divo, the classic variation on the boy band, consists of the Swiss Urs, American David, Spaniard Carlos and Frenchman Sébastien. In 2004 they were chosen to form a male vocal quartet to sing pop covers in pop opera style. The group's success was beyond expectations: the studio albums were in great demand worldwide and Il Divo visited all continents. At the Classic Brit Awards in May 2011, the
… group received the Artist of the Decade Award. At the end of the same year, the fifth studio album Wicked Game was released, named after Chris Isaak's song. Compared to previous albums it contains (even) more passion and drama, which is partly due to the accompaniment by a large orchestra conducted and arranged by the Swede Karl-Johan Ankarblom. Plus, the cover choice offers an emotionally darker vibe than before. In italian, The men sing in Spanish and English, including Crying (Roy Orbison), Don't Cry For Me Argentina (Evita), Con Te Partirò (Andrea Bocelli), Stay (Shakespeare's Sister) and Falling Slowly (Hansard). Two new songs contain parts of Barber's Adagio and Beethoven's Mondscheinsonata. (SvdP)more
