After Songs To Soothe (2014), Jacqueline Govaert bravely continues on the same path. For the second time, the singer / songwriter enlists the help of renowned producer . He not only enlisted an army of experienced studio musicians, but also co-wrote all the songs. The Dutch-American alliance is once again bearing fruit. Govaert can go in any direction and so can Froom. On Lighthearted Years we hear
… hopping pianos (Corner Of The World), 'pick yourself up' ballads (Long To Believe You) and tough rhythms (Ignorant Fools). Everything is neatly highlighted by Froom and technician / producer David Boucher. The strings and wind instruments that they perform on almost every song give the songs a lot of color. The nostalgic undertone of the lyrics comes out well, without it becoming too affectionate. This also applies to the retrospective timbre of many songs. It is like listening to a record from the 70s, fresh from the press. Crystal clear and pristine. Lighthearted Years does not contain half work, this has been well thought out. (JE)more
