If we have to choose a box for this diverse mix, it is 'hipster r & b,' also known as indie alternative r & b. Just like Frank Ocean and Janelle Monáe, Miguel sings impeccably and his sound is always accessible. And yet his songs are full of bold choices and good lyrics.
