It is a well-known pattern in pop music. After the success of a group in a certain genre, fans and record companies look for artists with a similar sound. These new artists are sometimes accused of jumping on the 'bandwagon' while they have often been busy for years. Take Mike Rosenberg, who has put together five albums for the name Passenger and released them as downloads on his own website. In
… 2012 he suddenly has the musical tide. Like his fellow countrymen and , he makes singer / songwriter pop with a folky slant. It promptly earned him a big hit (the lighter ballad Let Her Go) and a contract with major label . The big question then is: is Passenger a keeper? Probably not. The songs are well composed, but hardly noticeable. Unfortunately Passenger distinguishes himself mainly in a negative sense: with his meaningless lyrics and especially with his nasal voice, which is already quite irritating halfway through the album.
