The group Efterklang comes from Copenhagen but could also have come from Antwerp. With groups such as dEUS and Zita Swoon, Efterklang has in common that it makes very responsible art and listening pop with an alternative edge. Strange instruments and electronics are used again, alongside complete brass sections and strings, on this fourth studio album. All this does not twist or fray anywhere, but
… mixes in a tonal and debauched way. Then there is singer Casper Clausen with his equally pleasant baritone voice and mild melodies. He suggests content, but what this is remains unclear. So Efterklang ripples on. You can find it pleasant music or downright boring, but like everything on this record, this remains mainly in the middle. Nobody can fall for the aesthetically pleasing and decorative abstract sounds of Efterklang. Music like autumn without rain. (MR)more
