When putting on The Ligth The Dead See by The Soulsavers, it seems as if hidden work by Ennio Morricone has been found, but the sad harmonica on the opening track La Rivera comes from Tony Foster. It is the ideal intro to a beautifully composed album, full of dark lyrics and musical highlights. The Soulsavers are known for their dark records, but this may be the darkest yet. This is reinforced by
… the fact that the company managed to get Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan for the vocal part. Songs like In The Morning, Just Try and Gone Too Far, are full of dubious lyrics about death and forgiveness, but they can all be called gems. Even without Gahan, The Soulsavers can still do it, as witness the beautiful instrumental Point Sur Pt. 1. With Tonight the band has saved the strongest song to last and the suggestion is made that there is some light again at the end of the tunnel. (BvdV)more
