The period of success of the British band Gomez coincided with the end of the last century. The quintet was extremely adept at making rock music that was hip at the time. … seventh album from the group that has seen this future come and go, because Gomez is no longer as relevant as the band was at the time of Bring It On (1998) and Liquid Skin (1999). Today the band is known for its craftsmanship and they live up to that name every time. As on any Gomez album, the listener can indulge in the good songs, the ingenious use of electronica and the beautiful harmony vocals. Those same vocals are still the company's Achilles heel. The three different lead singers have such different timbres that as a listener you quickly find your favorite and start seeing the songs of the other two as less. If it can be called a blemish, then it is a very small blemish on an otherwise excellent record. (JE)more
