As the title suggests, soul diva Jill Scott will collaborate with a number of colleagues at Collaborations. Or rather 'went', because many songs on this CD have already been heard on the CDs of the collaborators involved such as Common, The Isley Brothers, George Benson & Al Jarreau, Sergio Mendes and Will Smith. There is therefore no question of the new Jill Scott, but more of a light snack to
… reassure the fans in anticipation of the successor to Beautifully Human. Compositionally Collaborations disappoints a lot, especially for those who expected the same depth as in Scott's regular work. Collaborations doesn't get further than monotonous hip-hop beats and one-dimensional melodies. Certainly when it comes to the collaboration with rappers, there is musical poverty. But that is not surprising when you consider that Scott only had a modest guest role on all these songs. (AD)more
