It is not entirely certain, but in all probability Nina has a special first with De Lastigste: 'it is the first official album of a female solo MC from the Netherlands', as her label Top Notch announces it. Quite remarkable, especially given the popularity of hip hop among all walks of life. Nina certainly stands her ground on her debut. Together with producer QF she delivers an eleven-track album
… that makes quite an impression in less than forty minutes. Especially in fierce tracks in which she can boast a lot, Nina excels (NINA, Nieuwe Patta's), but she is also in her place in a quieter song like Dames (an ode to all women). In 2nd Generation, as a second generation Surinamese-Dutch person, she gives her little rosy vision of the modern Netherlands, which is further enhanced by the sound fragments preceding the song, which are full of xenophobic statements. Fortunately this CD is a lot more hopeful. (IV)more
