An impossible band name and also an impossible album title. So it's time for a new CD from the Canadian anarchist squatters scene in Montreal. This time not from Godspeed You Black Emperor (GYBE) but side project The Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, in which members of GYBE participate. The most important new element on the company's third CD, This Is Our Punk-rock, is the presence of a choir,
… the Rusted Satellite Choir. So now there is sometimes singing with the largely instrumental music, but The Silver Mount Zion does not like that (out of tune!). Its greatest strength is still the slow build-up of the often dark, mysterious songs, which usually end in a huge wall of sound. This Is Our Punk-rock contains four songs of about fifteen minutes each that, although the novelty is now a bit off (the trick is known), still impress. (IV)more
