It took Seal five years to come up with a follow-up to his 1998 album Human Being. His new CD has again been titled Seal, this time with the addition IV. Initially he had written and recorded another album, but the result was not to his liking and the CD disappeared into the trash. The main source of inspiration for starting over was his return to England (he had lived in Los Angeles for twelve
… years), where he was not only captivated by the 'vibe' of London, but also re-entered the studio with star producer Trevor Horn who also produced his previous three albums. Seal IV therefore produces a familiar pop soul sound, to which his characteristic raspy voice naturally contributes the most. Highlights are Let Me Roll and opener Get It Together, with nice horns.
