It is unimaginable that in more than fifty years of pop history no one had ever come up with the idea to name his (or her) band Kaizers Orchestra. And actually it is a good thing, because this fantastic group name fits perfectly with the fantastic debut CD Ompa Till Du Dor. In 2002 the album was released in their home country and became one of the best selling CDs of the year. In early 2003 they
… did a very convincing performance in Groningen at the Eurosonic festival and a few months later the album is also released with us. The timing is perfect, right at the start of the festival season, because Kaizers Orchestra is a live band par excellence. Their music has already been labeled 'kettle rock' by a few journalists. I think that term stands for a typical continental (European) form of pop music that incorporates ancient folk traditions. This makes the music sound like a filthy rock & roll record on which some elderly members of the village fanfare rave along in the background while their grandchildren were allowed to hit pots and pans. Exciting and very original! The first EP-tje Dod Manns Tango is included as a bonus CD. (MvP)more
