The Datsuns come from New Zealand and play simple but unadulterated rock 'n roll. On this untitled debut album, The Datsuns 10 songs go full throttle with simple but effective guitar riffs that sometimes seem straight out of AC / DC but are just a bit looser and a bit dirtier. Furthermore, the four gentlemen are mainly reminiscent of The Strokes, Danko Jones, Zen Guerilla and fellow countrymen The
… D4. All these bands have already been mentioned as the 'new' standard-bearers of rock 'n roll and with this new album a title contender has already emerged. I wish the other candidates the best of luck but give The Datsuns the best chances for now. (RWK)more
