Pop journalism immediately spoke of a new movement that would become the salvation of rock & roll. Since then, almost every month a new band was 'discovered' that would be the new Strokes. Using this pointless terminology, we would declare the New York Liars the Strokes
… of August 2002. Their debut album, recorded in just two days, contains a total of nine songs. The first eight are shorter than the monotonous closing song This Dust Makes That Mud. The album was produced by Steve Revitte, who previously worked with and . Musically, Liars' music is a bit of an extension of these two bands.
