The Scottish five-piece AC Acoustics has been around since the early nineties. O is their third full-length, after the well-received 1999 Understanding Music, which was produced by Brian Molko of Placebo (who, by the way, thinks AC Acoustics is the most underrated British band). O contains heavy noise pop, complete with distortion guitar sound and the kind of vocals that take you back to the eighties
… and bands like Jesus & Mary Chain, Pale Saints and Slowdive. The noise is interspersed with atmospheric songs with synthesizer, and is introduced by an instrumental intro, intermediate piece and poem (!) At the end. This all sounds more pretentious than it actually is. The album is believable and just doesn't contain any bad songs. (BP)more
