They called themselves 'the loudest piano trio ever'. And rightly so, because which acoustic jazz band plays covers from Abba, Nirvana, Blondie, Black Sabbath and Queen, among others? … musicians and Iverson was musical director for the prestigious Mark Morris Dance Group. In 2000 The Bad Plus was a fact. Many concerts and several critically acclaimed CDs followed. For the latest CD they asked AC / DC well-known producer Tony Platt. That provided a fantastic dynamic sound. Hard and sturdy, but also modest from time to time. On the program are some surprising interpretations of pop songs from Tears for Fears, David Bowie, Rush and Burt Bacharach. Furthermore, six own compositions that sound just as good. The title Prog has been chosen correctly: The Bad Plus is one of the most progressive jazz bands of 2007. (HB)more
