Whitehorse is a Canadian duo consisting of singer Luke Doucet and singer Melissa McClelland. Both already had a solo career, but when she got a relationship and got married in 2006, she decided to join musical forces.
Live they often use samples and loops and play them often moored instruments simultaneously, including guitar, bass and synthesizer. A loose bass drum, and a wooden plate with hard shoe… soles, and is played by forming on it to thereby stamping the percussion. Their music can be described as light experimental americana, wherein rock 'n' roll influences with American folk and indiepop is mixed. They often share the stage with Sarah McLachlan with whom they both also previously played in the backing band.more
