With her debut album On How Life Is (1999) Macy Gray released the soul back to her natural roots, by providing rhythm and blues with modern touches. Gray's style is reminiscent of the one part soulful hip-hop Lauryn Hill, and also the mix of rock and R & B of Lenny Kravitz and Neneh Cherry. Since its striking debut, the singer worked with Slick Rick, Fatboy Slim and the renowned producer Rick Rubin.
She made her acting debut in 2001 alongside Denzel Washington in the film Training Day.more
