The Clash was one of the first and most important British punk bands. In the seventies, they were The Beatles at that time, such as The Sex Pistols 'The Rolling Stones'. They knew their sound to enrich them by the popular roots music - reggae, rockabilly, soul, blues - without ever getting away from their punk roots and political involvement. … is considered one of the best pieces of the rock era, after The Beatles. Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Joe Strummer started all three new projects after The Clash (Big Audio Dynamite, Havana 3 AM, Strummers solo albums). Plans for a reunion at their initiation into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the bud were smothered by the death of Joe Strummer in December 2002.more
