It was Lura's childhood dream to become a dancer later, a dream where she was. She never imagined as a singer to become internationally renowned. In the year that Cape Verde was independently - 1975 - Lura saw the light of day in Lisbon. Her father came from Santiago, her mother Sao Antao and Lura grew up in the large Cape Verdean community in Lisbon. Since her teenage years, she participated in
… various singing groups and duets. When coming from São Tomé zouk singer Juka invited her to sing a duet with him, she was actually very surprised. She had always been ashamed of her voice, but many listeners are turned away from her sensual, dark toned voice. Appearances followed with among others Bonga (from Angola), Tito Paris and Paulinho Vieira. The song Nha Vida her eponymous debut album (1996) became a big hit. After the album In Love (2002), a mix of R & B and zouk, Lura surprised everyone with many more in the Cape Verdean tradition rooted album Di Korpu Ku Alma (2004).
