All In All shows how Earth, Wind & Fire managed to break through its own funk / r & b pattern in 1977 with influences from world music, among other things. Traveling to Argentina and Brazil helped Maurice White and his band find a new sound. It resulted in a classic album that sounds just as fresh today as it was then. Opener Serpentine Fire is dominated by White's Latin percussion arrangement.
Fantasy, with Philip Bailey's sensitive falsetto vocals, is quite simply one of the best funk songs of the time. Jupiter has tight and heavy brass work. I'll Write A Song For You is a soothing ballad full of tender harmonies and strings. The CD ends with a live version of Brazilian Rhyme, one of the three bonus tracks on this reissue.
