Although the previous album Fear Of Music already had a small teaser, Talking Heads fans could never have guessed what awaited them with the release of Remain In Light, undoubtedly one of the best albums of the eighties in all its innovation and inspiration. The songs are made up of layers of interwoven, overdubbed keyboard, guitar and percussion parts with the dynamics coming from adding and leaving out parts in the mix. This was a pretty radical approach for a rock band and it is reflected in the lyrics. Byrne leaves his urban paranoia of old for a more spiritual, style of writing influenced by the developing world. Adrian Belew adds a lot of spice with his post-punk psychedelia guitar work (and probably hints at his upcoming work with King Crimson). This album is one forever.more
