The last album of the Alan Parsons Project dates back to 1990. Meanwhile, Eric Woolfson, the keyboardist with whom Alan Parsons wrote the material for the eleven concept albums under that title, has also passed away. You almost forget to notice that this live DVD comes out under the name Alan Parsons, especially when you see the track list full of APP hits like Breakdown, Time and Don't Answer Me.
Anyone who is not an outspoken fan of the man will miss the fact that there is also material that he released after 1990 under his own name. Alan Parsons was always an anonymous studio man, getting the tricks of the trade on recordings of The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Now he looks in good spirits, but he is still not a stage animal, during this filmed concert in Madrid in 2004. The power of APP was correct that it had no face at the time, so that every album (helped by the beautiful sleeves of Hipgnosis) remained an independent concept. This image, now offered, of six skilful but characterless men making music, has no added value. (MR)more
