Kanye West. The media often think they can tell his story by reporting all the incidents and linking them to his arrogance. But is it really that simple? Are there not more things that can come into play? VH1 gave the successful producer the opportunity to tell his own story. Supported by an illuminated square stage and live instrumentation on either side, Kanye West performs his saga in a fascinating
… way. In the form of a small number of tracks (Flashing Lights, Amazing, Touch The Sky etc.) and small monologues West tells, among other things, that certain life experiences, including the death of his mother, are too intense to elaborate on. He also humorously apologizes for his conceited behavior during award shows with the words: “It's an award show, it's not like I killed anybody ”. West explains that all the attention really made him believe that he was number one in the world, and that he therefore felt robbed every time. This DVD shows a sympathetic and above all unfeigned Kanye West. (GL)more
