They remain a wonderful duo: British pop star and speech waterfall Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint, the humble legend from New Orleans. But the combination works, as showed from the CD (2006), on which the two performed Toussaint's old work and some newly written songs. A tour was also undertaken with the musicians with whom the CD was recorded, which brought them to the Montreal Jazz Festival,
… where the recordings for this DVD were made. For these concerts Costello had asked Toussaint to write new arrangements for nine songs from Costello's catalog. Some nervous, typical new wave songs like (I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea, Pump It Up and Watching The Detectives get a surprising metamorphosis due to Toussaint's New Orleans swing. In the bonus section, Costello and Toussaint explain their collaboration again in an interview. (MS)more
