With Fade To Red, Tori Amos has collected all her video clips on two DVDs from her first CD Little Earthquakes (1992) to The Beekeeper (2005). In total there are nineteen video clips on it, and as a bonus two more, including the remix of Professional Widow. The question is whether Amos' music needs video clips or is amplified by them. The often intimate songs with a strong emphasis on the lyrics
… might lose some of their power through images. Fortunately, that is not so bad. The clips are especially given added value through the spoken commentary for each film by Amos himself. Then it turns out that the clips often contain just as much messages and symbolism as the music itself. A video that really stands out is that of A Sorta Fairytale, from Scarlet's Walk. It shows Amos together with actor Adrien Brody. Instead of a body, Amos has only one leg (not her own, by the way) on which sits her head at knee level, Brody has only a forearm with his head instead of elbow. How this fairytale ends cannot be revealed of course. (IV)more
