Sting became famous as the singer / bassist of the legendary pop group The Police. His glorious solo career has many highlights and he has managed to build a solid fan base. When he started his solo career around 1984, he formed a band consisting of top jazz musicians from all kinds of big bands (including Weather Report). This concert film from 1985 is about the origins of this band. We see Sting
… practicing in an old castle in France where he and his band settled (while the tours in the castle continued as usual). The film was released in 2005 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of his solo career. Sting wanted to make a statement and as a white Briton form a band consisting of black American musicians. The synergy, the musicians and the interviews make this DVD a beautiful time document.more
