It takes a little effort to place singer Chezere is in a box. A multitude of music styles pass in review on her debut CD "Upfront ... and personal". Sometimes she sounds like Neneh Cherry (ao "I'm not blind") and in the somewhat brighter songs she sounds like Skin by Skunk Anansie (ao "Plastic woman"). In the somewhat slower songs, to which often a lot of strings were added, the name of Seal soon
… comes to mind ("Where does your mind go"). Chezere wrote the 11 songs together with the producer for this album Rick Frazer. With a bit of luck, Chezere could well be one of the discoveries of 1998. (CK) _more
