This New York combo has been compared to The Posies (not surprising: Posies drummer Brian Young also plays in Fountains Of Wayne), Weezer, Big Star and The Byrds. Besides Brian Young the band consists of Chris Collingwood, Adam Schlesinger and Jody Porter. The fact is that this uniquely successful self-titled debut album contains a dozen catchy guitar songs with a strong nod to the 60s (what does
… that reverb guitar in Everything is Ruined remind of?). Lyrically, the songs have little depth. Girls, cars, motorcycles and losers are the main subjects, but the songs sound fresh and cheerful. Actually, there is only one downside to report about this CD: it only lasts 36 minutes!more
