With their eighth studio CD, NOFX shows in 35 minutes what contemporary punk rock should sound like. The band is becoming more and more famous, as evidenced by the successful performance at Lowlands in 1995 and the number of teenagers who have their names on their chest and back. That will not change with this CD, despite the fact that NOFX in the CD booklet fiercely lashes out at MTV and commercial
… radio stations. The CD, containing a rather obscene cover, immediately hits your feet off the floor with the ultra-short Hobophobic (Scared Of Bums). This is followed by a xylophone (!) In the extremely 'catchy' Philty Phil Philanthropist. Where the band previously used quite a few different styles to enrich their punk rock, such as ska, blues and metal, they have now worked with them in a more subtle way. Less conspicuous and forced, more effective and better than its predecessor Punk In Drublic and actually just as awfully good as their unsurpassed White Trash, Two Heebs And A Beam. Just listen to the funny Hot Dog In A Hallway, Liza and The Black And White. Or just to everyone!more
