With JUNGLE, French duo The Blaze follow up their debut
Dancehall (2018). They more or less tap from the same keg and dive once again into (filter) house with euphoric undertones. Their debut earned the pair the Victorie de la Musique, an important French cultural award. However, the music of Jonathan Alric and Mayd Hubb should be listened to primarily with the live performance in mind. The compelling
… dance anthems sound catchy on record, but also mostly the same. The structure of the songs almost always follows the same pattern, with a melancholy male voice occasionally babbling-slash-singing through it. The energy released in the process is infectious, but probably comes into its own better in a live setting. In that sense, JUNGLE certainly tastes like more, as this duo will most likely set the festival tents ablaze. (YvQ)more
