If you're an artist who wants to record a new album, but has to stay close to home due to the corona crisis, it's convenient if you live in Nashville. American artist and songwriter John Hiatt lives near this country mecca and joined forces with the in-demand local dobro and lap steel player
Jerry Douglas and his
band. The upbeat result is called Leftover Feelings and was recorded in four days,
… live, in a Nashville studio. It is striking how worn out and gritty Hiatt's voice sounds, but nevertheless he is completely in his element on this completely acoustic and with country and bluegrass injected album. Douglas is a true virtuoso on his instruments and also took care of the tasteful production. Above all the pleasure in playing of the band lifts Leftover Feelings to the level of an energetic country rock album. (MR)more
