The opening and title track of Glass Animals' third album is absolutely dreamy. Just like Your Love (Deja Vu) and Heat Waves, it elaborates on the sound of (2014) and (2016). Here you can hear the typical jaunty and brooding sound of the band. But there is certainly also room for new perspectives. For example, the group dives into hip-hop on the song Tokyo Drifting - with rapper Denzel Curry -.
Trips like this and a number of fleeting interludes make Dreamland slightly more unbalanced than its predecessors. Nevertheless, the British are again embroidering a versatile sound carpet in which they often manage to create a strong tension, culminating in the beautiful It's All So Incredibly Loud. (JvQ)more
