Founded in 2014, the American duo Ohmme consists of Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart. On this successor to (2018) the ladies play with lush melodies, raw post-punk and rattling guitar parts. Although the pair love to experiment, the music on this album remains mostly accessible, despite the amount of noise the duo sometimes conjures up from their instruments. The pair wanted to create a collection
… of songs that radiated harmony despite chaotic elements. Cunningham and Stewart both come from the Chicago jazz scene and are therefore no strangers to improvising a bit. The capriciousness that the ladies put into their music creates sharp edges, although they take a more dreamy side road in songs like Spell It Out. By deliberately letting their music sound unpolished, they pleasantly rub against the listener's hair. (JvQ)more
