At the age of 74, Boudewijn de Groot still wants to make music. He wanted an album with country influences. Together with bassist Jaco van der Steen (of The Dutch Eagles) he wrote the fourteen songs for Even Weg, which were recorded in Haarlem. influences could also be heard on (2007). Where (2015) was mainly intimate and melancholic, Even Weg sounds a lot more optimistic. Nevertheless, De Groot's
… sometimes whispering voice creates a certain calm. In his texts he shows himself as an observer, sometimes seriously and sometimes with a funny twist. There is even a protest song again. The country music is subtly worked out and ties in well with De Groot's lyrics. On Even Weg, De Groot sounds like a gifted storyteller. (JvQ)more
