Austrian Anja Plaschg made an impressive debut at the age of 19 with the intensely dark (2009). She then processed her father's death and severe depression on her second album (2012). On her third album, the dark clouds gently give way to a sound that is more open and clear. The birth of her daughter made her decide to make her music sound more like a safe haven. … Plaschg makes more use of synthesizers in contrast to the heavy piano sounds and cutting violins on her previous work. Nonetheless, the cheerfulness still doesn't splash off her music, something that is perhaps most evident in her cover of 's What A Wonderful World. With a threatening undertone, Plaschg mixes dreampop, classical influences and avant-garde into an intriguing whole in which she manages to put a lot of emotion into her work with her voice.
