The first thing that strikes you about I'm All Ears, Let's Eat Grandma's second CD, is the complete lack of ears on the cover. The duo from Norwich, for example, often misleads you. Founded in 2013 by then 13-year-old best friends Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth, their silly girl music has matured unexpectedly quickly. Without losing the somewhat dark charm of the debut (2016) so enjoyable.
However, that was also a bit of a curiosity. Except for the slightly too hip single Hot Pink, I'm All Ears sounds much more like one, headstrong whole. A musical labyrinth in which it is wonderful to wander from the electro pop of It's Not Just Me - just like Hot Pink co-written and produced by Sophie and Horrors singer Faris Badwan - to the strangely conjuring closing track Donnie Darko. A very beautiful picture of this duo, still only 19 years old, with another song about a cat. (RME)more
