Dan Auerbach was best known as the singer / guitarist of , the no-nonsense blues rock band with which he toured the world endlessly. That Auerbach musically looks beyond blues and rock is evident from this second solo album. The 38-year-old Auerbach returns to the music he heard at home: soul, rock and roll and sixties pop. Auerbach recorded the album in his own studio that he built in Nashville.
As befits a real music freak, he collected mixing desks, microphones and amplifiers with which his favorite albums were recorded in the 60s and 70s. The result is good too, because the instruments Waiting On A Song sound perfect and crackle as if it were 1966. In addition, Auerbach was assisted by a number of music industry veterans, such as longtime rocker and producer . It's really different from The Black Keys, but this other side of Dan Auerbach certainly doesn't disappoint. (PdK)more
