From which country does this come and from what time? The guys from Ko Shin Moon want to make their audience doubt. The name of the act alone, what language would it be and what does it mean? To break through all the mystery right away: it is a contraction of the names of band members Axel Moon and Niko Shin. The French duo uses acoustic instruments from the Middle East and Asia and skillfully mixes
… them with all kinds of old-fashioned electronics. Each instrument has a certain style, so the music is swinging. The re-release labeltook care of Ko Shin Moon, making it the record company's first contemporary act. The music does not sound contemporary at all, but that is precisely the intention. The Tibetan ambient, Hindi synthpop, Greek disco alternate rapidly. It is as if Air, another French synth duo, has dived into old world music. For that reason alone this debut is very entertaining to listen to. Thanks to the strong rhythms and melodic parts, you sometimes think you are listening to an obscure hit from several decades ago. Mission accomplished. (JE)more
