After her surprising solo debut (2014), returns in 2016 with her band The Pretenders. That mainly means that Hynde makes old-fashioned rock again. Furthermore, The Pretenders is just a name, because the singer has been the only band member for years. The album title Alone is well chosen in that regard. … producer the most important. His band made a big impression on the singer which made her want to work with him. The result is as predictable as it is reassuring: Hynde writes candid rock songs and Auerbach makes them sound great. No fuss, just great rock with a hint of new wave. The American still does not mince words after more than 35 years on stage. If Hynde is not happy, then everyone should know.
