Barry Gibb makes music mainly with his family. Between 1958 and 2003 he was particularly successful with his brothers Maurice and Robin in the top group . After the death of (2003) and (2012) Barry focuses on his solo career. In The Now, which he releases at the age of 70, is only his second solo album. This time he works closely with his sons Ashley and Stephen. The Gibb genes do not disappoint
… in this composition either. The twelve songs are all very strong. Most of the songs are contemplative and calm in nature. The old hand looks back on his life, although he also lives in the now. That may sound a bit corny, but it fits this neat pop record. In addition to the beautiful ballads, the exciting title track and the rocker Blowin 'A Fuse are particularly striking. At moments like this, in which he also effortlessly sings high notes, it seems as if Gibb is about 30 years old. (JE)more
