With an excellent album ( , 2013) Omara 'Bombino' Moctar managed to draw attention to herself. He kept that attention during the many performances he did in Europe. With his flashy guitar playing and stirring band, the modest musician from Niger played many rock bands off the stage. Rarely did the music from the heart of the Sahara sound more exciting than in the skilled hands of this Tuareg. With
… the previous album, Bombino hitched a ride on the name of a well-known producer ( ). Moctar and his men also recorded this album in the United States. Compared to Nomad, this album sounds a bit less spartan. It seems as if Moctar's many travels inspired him to create a more worldly sound. A number of songs have a reggae rhythm (they call it 'tuareggae' themselves) and sometimes a cheerfully humming Hammond organ plays along with it. Fortunately, Bombino's electric guitar still has the lead on this album. With powerful riffs and winding lines, the guitarist convincingly brings the desert of Niger to life. (PdK)more
