Bob Mold no longer causes a sensation, but the songs on his 12th solo album Patch The Sky are still professional and sharp. This American singer, guitarist and songwriter has had a turbulent career. He will always be mentioned in the same breath as , the trio that gave new dimensions to hardcore punk in the eighties and was the prelude to grunge, among other things. The group went down around 1986
… from quarrels and drug abuse. As a solo artist and with his band , Mould then experienced peaks and troughs. On Patch The Sky he reappears in a power trio line-up. A number of strong, melodic punk songs would not have been out of place on a Hüsker Dü album. But where this group on a classic like (1984) did not shy away from the experiment, Patch The Sky thunders on with pure songs. Lovers of melodic punk pop will take advantage of this powerful album from one of the creators of the genre. (MR)more
