Brooklyn Funk Essentials is one of the few acid jazz-era bands that is still active. In the early 90s they created a furore with small hits such as The Creator Has A Master Plan and Big Apple Boogaloo. After that their reputation continued as a mediocre funk band. … means a bad band. After more than 20 years, all members have gained enough stage experience. Only the 'composition' and 'production' departments are failing. In both cases the power is lacking, a necessary fact in a genre like funk. Proof that the band can do it comes with Gabriel from Roy Davis Jr., the only cover the album has.
