As one of the few bands from the Riot Grrrl subculture, Sleater-Kinney managed to break through in the nineties. … music is straightforward. Driven vocals, passionate drums and two razor-sharp guitars. A bass is not necessary, because the sound is already full enough. Between 1994 and 2006 the band released seven excellent albums, almost all of which received critical acclaim. After this the band takes a breather that ends with No Cities To Love (2014). In the meantime, singer / guitarist Carrie Brownstein has set up the well-running television series Portlandia as an actress and writer. Her fame - and the fact that inactive cult groups often become more and more legendary by word of mouth - ensures that the reunion record is received with great interest.
